Jersey

Jersey is a soft, stretchy, knitted fabric which is easy to work with and tends not to fray. These characteristics make it particularly popular for creating stylish, comfortable garments. Jersey originates from the Channel Islands where it was used to make clothing for fishermen - traditionally it was made from wool or cotton but more modern jerseys can be made from cotton, polyester or viscose, often combined with Spandex or elastane to give a better stretch, drape and handle.

At white Lodge we have a fabulous collection of jersey fabrics including glitter jersey, sequin jersey and printed jersey in traditional, retro and modern designs.

Soft, stretchy, and stylish: Jersey fabric for all your needs.

Jersey fabric is a type of knit fabric that is made from natural or synthetic fibres such as cotton, wool, or polyester. It is known for its soft, stretchy, and comfortable feel, as well as its excellent draping properties. Jersey fabric is a common choice for a wide range of clothing and home decor applications.

In fashion, jersey fabric is often used to create a variety of clothing items such as t-shirts, leggings, dresses, and skirts. It is a popular choice for activewear and loungewear as well because of its stretchy and breathable properties. It is also a popular choice for children's clothing, as it is soft, comfortable, and easy to care for.

In home decor, jersey fabric is often used to create a variety of items such as bed sheets, pillowcases, and blankets. Due to its stretchy properties, it is also a popular choice for making fitted sheets and mattress covers. It's also used to create comfortable and stylish furniture covers, such as slipcovers for sofas and armchairs.

Jersey fabric is also popular in the crafting and DIY community as it can be easily cut, folded, and manipulated to create a variety of projects. Some popular projects include creating homemade cards and scrapbook pages, decorating party favors and gift bags, and making custom home decor accents like wall hangings and picture frames.

Jersey fabric is easy to care for and can be machine washed and dried. It is important to note that some fabrics may shrink upon first wash and it's best to pre-wash it before cutting and sewing. It can also be ironed on a low heat setting to remove wrinkles.
